What are some things you do or tools/resources you utilize that helps you control and manage your finances?

Pay your bills on time. Try to pay cash whenever you can. Credit is not your friend!

What do you know now you wish you could go back and tell “early you” about money?

Start saving sooner.

What financial advice do you live by? Who gave it to you?

I learned a lot from Dave Ramsey about money. Live within your means, act your wage, never borrow to get out of debt.

What financial tips or suggestions would you share with someone who may need encouragement?

Work hard, don’t borrow – earn

What experiences have led you to where you are today?

Watching my parents struggle to ‘keep up with the Joneses’. My Dad passed away broke and in debt, and my Mom is 91 and is just now learning the money is not the key to happiness.

Who has made a big impact on your life? Why?

Besides Dave Ramsey, my Aunt taught me about how to get and stay out of debt.

What is the biggest financial challenge you’ve had to overcome?

I have bought 2 houses in my life. I struggled, but managed.

What steps did you take to overcome the challenge? Or, what do you wish you had done differently?

I kept a steady job, didn’t drive a fancy car or take expensive vacations.

What has surprised you the most along your financial journey so far?

It’s not hard to get out and keep out of debt. Just takes a little self control & common sense.

What has been the low point on this journey for you?

Not being able to buy my kids nice things when they were growing up.

What advice would you give younger people or those just starting on their financial journey?

Save, save, save! Join your 401k or other savings plan. It doesn’t hurt as much to save, if you never see it!

How do you measure sucess?

Happiness!!
