The Value of Maximizing Social Security

By Angela Johnson, CFP®

Worthen Financial Advisors seamlessly guides our clients through various ages and stages of their lives and financial journeys. Our firm’s processes are uniquely positioned to provide the support you need for the long term.

One key issue we focus on with clients is when to claim Social Security benefits, in part because better decision making can mean more retirement security. Unfortunately, the importance of maximizing Social Security benefits is not well understood.

Maximum benefits are payable at age 70, but very few actually claim at this age. There are many claiming strategies, and everyone’s situation is unique, so I developed this presentation to begin to show why there is tremendous value in maximizing benefits.

Helping you decide the best time to claim Social Security is part of our included services to clients, and we recommend starting to think about possible claiming ages and how that impacts your plan 5-10 years before retirement. The decision may change in the end, but being informed and having a flexible plan is always better than just guessing. That’s what we’re here for.
